So . . . not a book review. Yes, I promised. And I apologise. But, ooo-ooh, shiny Blog Prompt!
What is your personal take on the 'new year'? Do you honor the change in Oct-Nov, or do you wait until January like everyone else?
Or, perhaps you follow a faith that has its own unique calendar - tell us about it.
Are there any specific traditions that go along with the new year?
I don't pay much attention to the new year to be honest. For me, change and renewal and all that jazz? Yeah, that's way back in October, when I'm clearing things out/stocking up on stuff for winter. I do celebrate New Years, though. Just not very fervently. I go to New Years parties, usually either at my cousin's or with my parents' D&D group - they have a traditional game/party every year, and it's lots of fun.
As for specific traditions, of the non firework-y, party-like sort? I get a dollar coin in my stocking each year, and on New Year's Eve I go outside and place it outside, for financial luck in the coming year. I also try to start at least one project, usually of the writint kind, each New Year.
I don't see the point in making resolutions solely because I need to buy a new calender, however.
So . . . Blurby.
Happy New Year!
